Petite, lovely, very durable, and not-so-stupid? The target group of Casio Baby-G MSG-B100, which you can connect to your smart phone, are feisty ladies. Ladies who do not want to choose between design, functions, and durability. The watches arrived pretty recently, so let's briefly look at what these watches have to offer in the Baby-G watches collection.
The Baby-G collection was established in 1994 as a purely women's version of the legendary G-Shock watches, so that women and men don't envy each other, as they say. Usually, these watches are a smaller versions of the popular men's watches. However, they are missing some functions which might be considered 'unattractive for ladies' and 200-meter water resistance, a feature of more expensive G-Shock lines.
They are still extraordinarily durable, robust sports watches, but 'beautiful' is not the first thought coming to our minds about these watches. Put simply, you would not wear Babies with your high-heels.

TOP 6: Women's classic sports watches
But the new MSG-B100? I can definitely imagine wearing them with an elegant outfit, and, in my opinion, people will be buying the Baby-G watches for the design, not the durability this time.
The negative association with being an embodiment of 'chubby sturdiness' is breaking under the weight of the elegance of steel and rose-gold shine of the surface finishing.
Lovers of steel bracelets will be thrilled to see the full-steel pink variant or the yellow gold one. There is also the black variant with resin band for women prefering sportish design and light-weight watches.
The new MSG B-100 might be the most feminine Baby-G's ever (well, in my opinion). Also, having diametre 37 mm and thickness 9 mm, they are among the smallest Baby-G on market (and so far the most slim of the G-MS series). As someone whose wrist is 14.5 cm, I was very pleased. To be fully honest, though, at first (and very brief) glance, they reminded me of the strictly women's Sheen line.
What is not missing on the other hand is the rather masculine octagonal bezel (so typical of the G-Shock line or the men's only Edifice line), impact resistence is a must. However, I would say that the rose gold surface finish would not endure much impact. With the considerable 100-meter water resistance, you don't have be afraid of wearing the watch during water sports. They are also powered by the Tough Solar charging system.
If you don't want to change batteries, then this solar charging system is for you. Since the watches can charge themselves using the solar energy, they won't discharge when using their functions. I also have to bring up the excellent backlight in the form of a LED bulb with the Afterglow function. Thanks to this function, the light stays on a little while longer after releasing the upper-right button.
Well, mainly about the Bluetooth linking; this is the very first time we see it in the Baby watches from the G-MS series. You can connect your watch with any smart phone, which will make you notice and appreciate the convenience of using function. You can use the watch without a smart phone, no need to worry. You can set the time and date, as well as other additional functions, the old-way using buttons.
Just like all the Baby-G watches, the new MSG-B100 have an alarm (maximum of 5 set alarms) and stopwatch (capacity of 1 hour). You can also use countdown, set a reminder for an event, birthdays, anniversary, and the watch will remind you by displaying 'REM' (as in 'reminder'). You can also find your phone if it's hiding somewhere (I'm sure many people will make good use of this). After pushing the bottom-right button, a wild arcade melody starts ringing that will find your ears from anywhere.
Probably the most interesting function is the Time and Place function, which enables you to stamp your current location and time onto the map by shortly pushing the bottom-right button. You can access the data in the Baby-G Connected app, see it on a map and add your own note. Maybe a note of what you were doing and why you want to come back to the place.
In the Baby-G Connected app, you will see the home and world time (which you will be able to read on the watch), you can set alarms, countdowns, reminders and notifications in the app. You can also add a note to your saved location.
We were thinking about the practical use of this function in the editorial office for a while. Similar functions are more useful in more sportish or outdoor watches. What would be better to add to shiny Baby watching would be, according to us, step-counter, burnt calories, something like that. Maybe it's there to remind us of the nice places, memories, noting down where you saw that gorgeous handbag (that you might come back for)... Or maybe it is there to remind you where you burried the millions of unmarked bills. ;)
The Baby-G Connected application is available only in English and the watches are not connected permanently – probably to save baterry. You have to re-connect the devices to set every alarm (which was slightly frustrating since it took me a minute to find out). Long hold of the bottom-left button connects the watch to the app. You will see 'CNCT' (as in 'Connected') and the symbol for Bluetooth on the display.
The dial is illuminated by an LED.
After pressing any of the buttons, the watch will disconnect from the app and the digital display will show the time again (this plays no role in the Find my Phone and Time and Place functions).
But these are subtle useful additions, which you might or might not use. Even without them, the MSG B-100 are a beautiful and mostly elegant piece fitting even on a slender wrist, with an original, slightly sportish twist which will be the main reason for their purchase.
