Casio has officially confirmed that the G-Shock GA-2100 series is one of the four masterpieces of the G-Shock series.
Nowadays, the Casio G-Shock series is wide, and only real hard-core fans understand it all. But several models are now, without exaggeration, legendary. According to sales, one of the biggest "masterpieces" is also the relative benjamin, the GA-2100, which nobody calls anything other than CasiOak. The model, which has only been on the market for a few years, now belongs with the DW-5600, DW-6900, and GA-110 icons.
The Speedshock DW-5600 received its nickname after the movie Speed, where it was worn by Keanu Reeves. But it has been on the market since 1987. The inspiration for this watch was the first-ever G-Shocks DW-5000C from 1983. And overall, Speedshocks have achieved a lot in addition to the movie career. Above all, to get famous for its resilience.
The watch received certification for space flights and is also listed in the Guinness Book of Records. The DW-5600 got run over by a 25-ton truck and survived. So it is no wonder that this model is now in dozens of color variations and also among the four most iconic G-Shocks. There is now even a variant with a steel frame, the G-Shock GM-5600.
The typical design of the G-Shock DW-6900 earned the nickname Triple Graph. It has been on the market since 1995, and it belongs among the most popular G-Shocks ever. In 2018, according to Casio, it ranked 3rd in sales. And like the DW-5600, they are NASA certified for space missions.
Of course, this G-Shock also appeared in movies – for example, worn by Tom Hanks as Captain Phillips. The DW-6900 has (surprisingly) dozens of color variations and also has a variant with a G-Shock GM-6900 steel cover.
In 2010, the G-Shock GA-110 arrived. The best-selling G-Shocks ever (even though the practically same GA-100 still win with us). The atypical design was created by the young and quite brave designer Ryusuke Moriai, and the inspiration was allegedly the sci-fi/fantasy genre Steampunk. It was the 110 that brought a fresh wind, and an endless palette of colors to the G-Shock series and won the hearts of a huge number of fans, including new ones. It was no longer just a super durable work watch. With the 110 came a wave of G-Shocks as a fashion accessory.
The 110, for example, wears the rapper Silentó in his clip, and the steel version of the GM-110 is worn by Eminem.
While the three models mentioned above deserve admiration for their immense popularity, which has not declined on the market for decades, the fourth G-Shock GA-2100 deserves it precisely because it has only been on the market for so short and has already become one of the most iconic G -Shocky.
The Casio G-Shock GA-2100 emerged in 2019. And popularity was immediate. And understandable. At the time of its launch, it was the thinnest G-Shocks. And that, of course, led to better wearability – the fight of long-sleeves and G-Shocks became a thing of the past... The watch was also amazingly light (51 g is really light), and in addition, it came in a design that caused a real uplift.

G-Shock GA-2100 : Tribute to Mr. Ibe
The watch looks pretty simple when you first look at it, but the longer you look, the more genial it actually is. The ana-digi dial is perfectly clear, legible (depending on the variant, of course), and offers all the standard functions.In addition, the 2,100 received enhancements in the form of Carbon Core Guard. The resin body of the watch is thus reinforced with carbon fiber – the watch is perfectly durable, and at the same time, it has lost weight.
nd yet again, it was the design that got the watch something else – a nickname. And that has the greatest value in terms of promotion. Today, no one calls it anything other than CasiOak, because of the resemblance to the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak model. Well, resemblance. Let's say the bezel has an octagonal shape. But those eight sides are all they have in common...
The edgy shapes were picked up for a reason. The GA-2100 was created as a reincarnation of the first-ever G-Shocks, and thus in honor of the father of this indestructible series, Mr. Kikuo Ibe. The original three color variants soon weren't enough, and recently we could also see the GM-2100 model with a steel cover, the women's version GM-S2100, and an all-resin women's version, the GM-S2100, which is nicknamed Mini CasiOak.

All four models – DW-5600, DW-6900, GA-110 a GA-2100 have a special place. And it's not because of a list of the features it offers, because you'll probably find far better pieces, even in terms of price/performance. But these models are a heart-related thing, and some are already a collector's passion. Way to go, Casio!
