Garmin Venu is one of the most popular pieces from this American company. But why? As one of the few models, it is elegant, equipped with both sporty and smart features, and it is all wraped up in an affordable price range. But now the Garmin Venu 2 has seen an even more modern look, double battery life, two sizes and so many other tweaks that it just won't fit in the introduction here.
After this year's new Garmin Enduro, an American company is coming up with another big news - it is releasing the Garmin Venu 2. The previous generation was already quite "pumped up", so today we will look at what the current one brings. I haven't had a watch in my hand yet, but according to the available information, there is more than enough news.
So that you don't waste time, you have the most important things right from the start. Garmin Venu 2 brings:
The previous generation was only available in one size, and there could often be situations where the watch was too small for someone, or too large. Garmin solved this with two case sizes - 40 and 45 mm. The differences between these models are almost none, except for the battery life, which is one day shorter in the smaller model.
Garmin Venu 2 will be offered in two different colour versions.
Smaller Venu 2S in four different colour variations.
One of Garmin Venu's ills was its battery life, which Garmin solved dramatically. Battery life has simply doubled. And so, compared to the previous five days, the Garmin Venu 2 will now last 11 days and the smaller Venu 2S 10 days.
The new heart rate sensor is something that will affect all the news that will be released from now on, because it will definitely appear in all upcoming models. Venu 2 is therefore a breakthrough model in this, and the Elevate 4 sensor, among other things, has received a number of red diodes, which are used to measure blood oxygenation. So far, all sensors have measured oxygenation with only one diode, and Elevate 4 uses four diodes for this.
The previous generation had a resolution of 390x390 pixels. The larger Venu 2 will have a resolution of 416x416 pixels and the smaller 360x360 pixels. In addition, it will now be possible to set more data in Always-On mode than just time (eg steps, heart rate, etc.). They also used another technology to combine the touch screen and display. The new graphics processor also helps to render the image better.
The new display will be spiced with a new visual page of widgets, which now look a bit more modern than previous generations.
Sleep analysis will now be available directly in the watches, but in addition, Firstbeat has now created a new algorithm for Garmin. So far, the watches has always displayed only the ratio of light, deep and REM sleep, but now also evaluates sleep on a scale from 0 to 100.
The Body Battery function has also been updated, which shows the "charge" of the body on a scale from 0 to 100. It is evaluated based on your sleep, stress and physical activity. This feature tended to set the Body Battery to 100 more or less after each sleep, but with the new analysis, the feature should work a bit better.
For HIIT workout enthusiasts, I have good news. It's finally here! Garmin Venu 2 can now monitor HIIT, but also hiking and bouldering.
To better understand the exercise, Venu 2 will also show an animation of how to do the exercise correctly during strengthening and also show which muscles are affected by this exercise.
In addition to HIIT, there is also a "health image" function, where you have to sit or lie completely still for 2 minutes and the watches will evaluate your heart rate, oxygenation, heart rate variability and creates a record. You can then do this test regularly and compare values.
Quite a popular technological feature is estimating fitness age. It is most likely going to please someone, and disappoint others. However, the estimation of fitness age has now reached the Garmin watch. The calculation is based on your condition, BMI and other data.
The first generation had 3 GB of storage and you could "stuff" up to 500 songs into this watches. Venu 2 can now hold up to 650 songs.
It also features fast charging, where the watch charges in 10 minutes so that it can monitor up to 1 hour long activity with GPS.
In addition to the bigger tweaks, Garmin has also enriched this model with the ability to display challenges directly in the watch. So if you compete with a neighbour in the number of steps, you will see the overview on your wrist.
