One week... One more week!! The season 4 finale of the Stranger things is finally almost here, and we are expecting it with great horror, tension, and great excitement (I mean, if you like the new season as much as I do.) So to make our wait more fun, let me introduce this piece, the Timex x Stranger Things, that has more than just the connections to the show.
Many watch brands and TV productions are riding the nostalgic wave lately. The question of why this is so appealing to us would be a good theme for a longer conversation and would probably belong to a different medium than a watch magazine. And so today, we can only give in to the freezing, colorful, and completely entertaining atmosphere of 80's television served to us by both Timex and the Stranger Things series.
E.T. phone home! Eddie Krueger raves in your dreams, and Friday the 13th is the day you meet a creepy killer with a machete. The show creators got inspired by the classic 80's horrors and adventure sci-fi (for God's sake, there is Winona Ryder!)The fourth season got an even darker feel to it, similar to a pure horror classic. The theme remains the same: a group of teenagers dealing with a threat from another dimension, the "Upside down." This time, with a human face...
Just like the creators of Stranger Things took the best from the '80s, Timex reincarnated the three models from the same time period – Timex Camper, Timex T80, and Timex Atlantis. And as we already know from editions like this, there are many details and playful elements present. All of them are connected by the motif of a journey from "the darkness to light", which Timex refers to with the Indiglo backlight.
I will "enter" the collection with the Atlantis watch, which plays with the motif of a red shiny gate to the dark Upside Down world.
"Eagle-eyed enthusiasts may have noticed the Timex Atlantis on chief Hopper's wrist in the previous seasons"(we were excited to find this 2020 interview for Hodinkee with the Stranger things proprietor Lynda Reiss). "We have re-released the mentioned relic in Hopper's honor and gave it an ominous black resin case, black strap, and the INDIGLO backlight." – states the official Timex blog.

And the "ominous black case" with a scary picture around the display is not the only entertaining thing on the watch. The Indiglo backlight (which allegedly turns on by itself at 3 o'clock) reveals a hidden picter of a spider – a motif connecting every riddle of the show like a spiderweb (and which will be explained in episode 7).
Is it a spider? Are those elongated vines of Vecna that he used to connect to his victims? Or is it... Both, and do you know the third connection? If I am wrong, let me know in the comments! :)
The watch has a case diameter of 44mm, water resistance of 100 M, plastic glass, and basic functions like a stopwatch, alarm, date, day in the week indicator, and backlight.
It wouldn't be a special retro collection from Timex if there wasn't the T-80 model. Now, this cool digital piece received a motif with the protagonists biking toward the great danger.
Can the watch play the Stranger things theme song after pushing the button (or maybe the song from Kate Bush)? Let's hope so (remember the Pac-Man T-80 or the newer Coca-Cola collection where this was the case).

The Timex Camper watch is worn by Lucas Sinclair (for a moment I thought I saw it on Johnatan but then it turned out he probably wore the Timex Weekender model.) The Camper watch is in contrast to the previous two models analog and less distinctive. The designers played with the design of the numerals that are upside down, which I consider the most creative detail of the whole collection.
